In typical 717 fashion we chose what felt like the hottest day of the summer to do the most labor intense work! We had a good sized crew out though and were able to get almost the entire work load completed. Twelve, count ‘em 12, benches were installed, and the weeds were whacked on holes 13, 14 and 17.
Thanks to Russ and his Dad for building the benches on Saturday and Wild Bill for bringing his ATV and trailer, I’m positive we wouldn’t have gotten the benches done without it. A hearty thanks to everyone that was out lending there hands and backs as well: Matt Swartz, John Cunningham, Nick Krawczak, Fred Hickman, Wayne Trump, Eric Boger and Dick Gogin. Thanks to Codey Huff and Corey Duesler for helping Russ with the last bench so I didn’t have to! Also, thanks to Glen Miller for putting in time on 3B (it looks awesome) and to my dad for spending Saturday out there taking care of some weeds, as well as evenings doing the same. There is definitely no way any of the things we have or do would be possible without the help of the guys listed; as well as anyone else that’s invested their blood, sweat and time in to Whispering Falls. Thanks to all!
As if working all day wasn’t enough, we also played some golf! We had 15 gather, and we welcomed our newest tag member. Everybody say hi to longtime friend and volunteer, first time tagger, the one, the only, Wild Bill!
The heat definitely took its toll on a few as we lost 3 golfers along the way. Gotta remember to hydrate fellas.

There was some confusion on the subject of lost discs. Here is the official PDGA ruling on the subject. The gist is this, you have 3 minutes to look for it, everyone in the group helps look. If it’s not found, you re-throw from your previous lie, as determined by the group. Now, in tag play it’s not a problem to look a little longer as long as you aren’t holding up a group behind you. It is however, still a penalty stroke and re-throw if your disc isn’t found.
Just a little glimpse of what you could win at the Harvest! Each division winner will be awarded a handcrafted, one of a kind trophy, made by our own Codey Huff!

Yes that’s a wood disc, and yes it feels like it could fly!
Hope to see you there!
Next week all that’s left to be done is weed whacking hole 10 and moving baskets into round 1 layout. If we can get a handful of whackers on 10, and 2-3 guys moving pins we should be able to knock it all out in about an hour. If you get there and can’t find me, I’m on hole 10. If I’m not there, give me a call.
I should be there sometime around noon, if not sooner. Bring plenty of water!
-See ya on the course
