What a beautiful and hot Memorial Weekend it was! I hope everyone got outside to enjoy it, and took the time to thank a Veteran or current Armed Forces personnel.
On Sunday 8 players showed up to play (4 tag members).
Matt gets a little closer to ‘WF Form’ in his second round back from school. It was the return of The Shooby! After a long hiatus he comes back and shoots right around his average. That’s ingrained Frisbee skills ladies and gentlemen. Thom almost had the upset of the year, two strokes from snagging the 11 tag! I bet you can think of at least 2 stupid strokes you could have shaved, right Thom? Maybe next time.
Matt Swartz shot 63 (birdies on 5 and 14)
Shooby shot a 71
Cody Huff shot a 76
Thom shot 77
Matt #6
Shooby #10
Cody #11
Thom #24
Memorial Monday was a scorcher, even at our 9:30 tee off! Dan Becker and I were joined by Nick K. for a jaunt through the woods. Becker and I were neck and neck, with his first blemish being a roll-a-way approach on 3B that led to a 5, We both carded missed putt 5′s on 8B, to finish the front at 30/31. We traded strokes on 10 and 13, and then the wheels fell off my wagon. Dan misses his line on 14B, but still gets off a drive that penetrates at least halfway into the wood line. I missed my line and hit FAT. Then managed to hit another tree on every throw, except for my putt for 6. Now Becker’s up by one. I pull my drive on 16 to far right and clip a limb, leaving a long approach. I throw a spike hyzer that has the distance and the height; to hit a tree and leave me 55ft short. My putt hits the cage and I drop in a 4 to his Dan’s 3, now he’s up by two. Seventeen, long to long, I figure here’s my chance to make up a stroke because I know Dan is going to play it for a four. He does, and puts his drive well safe to the left of the marsh. My drive hits the tree in the corner of the parking lot and doesn’t turn all the way over, I end up clearing the OB by a foot, but being all the way left. Dan throws an anny with his Buzzz that looks like it’s going to go deep into the woods but miraculously hits a tree and kicks and and towards the pin, leaving him about 40ft. I have virtually no clear line to the pin and decide to play safe with a thumber to the hill to leave a long downhill putt. Thumber hits and stands up, rolling towards the brush. After 10mins of looking I declare it lost and throw a weak hyzer approach from the same spot, two putt for 55 for a circle 6. Now Dan’s up by 4 going into 18short, and my birdie to finish is to little to late.
Amidst our see saw battle, Nick was busy knocking down long putts and hitting the cage on almost everything inside 50ft. He barely missed a few longer ones too. Once he gets that dialed in a little I expect his scores to drop quite a bit.
Matt, Russ and I will be at PA States this weekend, wish us luck! And to those playing the Falls, keep an eye peeled for a pale blue S Power Driver with an Innova Christmas stamp on it. Hole 17, brush on the right side, between the bridge and the B pin. thanks!
See ya on the course!
