Used Disc Bonanza!

20 11 2009

As I am sure many of you know, I have quite a pile of used plastic taking up space in our office. I am trying to thin the collection out some, as I am just not going to throw all these discs in any kind of reasonable time. My loss is your gain.

All discs are first come first serve. I will not be lugging these back and forth with me on Sundays, so if you’re interested in something let me know and I can bring it for you. I also have these listed on the interwebs, so list is subject to change at anytime.

I am willing to do trades, but I’m really only interested in Wizards, heavy beat Rocs or Discmania Power Drivers.

Happy shopping!
-Brad

Condition scale is as follows. All discs not listed as a 10 should be assumed to have my email/contact info on them. 10 – Never thrown, no ink, brand new condition
9 – Field tested or used for one or two rounds
8 – Lightly used with very minimal wear
7 – Used with some minor dings or scuffs but still in good shape 6 – Typical used disc with the usual dings, scratches but still worthy 5 – Kinda beat, significant wear, has lost a good bit of it’s stability 4 – Beat up turnover disc with some evident war story wear
3 or under- Beat to Hades dog chew toy

We had two teams represented at the Rockburn Riot. Round one was favorite shot, round two was 9 holes of tough shot ad 9 holes of alternate shot. Fred Hickman and Wayne Trump put up a 55 and a 79. Solid play in a tough format for neither of them having never played the course before. Russ and I got off to a hot start, putting up a division leading 48 in round one. round two was a tense one, and we struggled at times. Unable to card any birdies round two, we fell to a tie for fourth with a 66. Great tourney, fun times. Look for a doubles event happening at WF in the future.

Sunday saw a slim crowd out to enjoy the beautiful weather.

From the desk of Nick K:

Cory 12 62 12
Codey 14 65 14
Nick 21 89 21
John 22 89 22

Birdies: Corey 14 15
Cody 3 6 14

I will be placing a disc order very soon. If you want anything specific, now is the time to speak up. I ca also get DGA Machlite portable baskets cheaper than anywhere else if you’re looking for a practice basket for the winter.

I have some interest in shirts. If you haven’t contacted me and you’re interested, please contact me soon.

This Sunday we tee off at 1:15! Don’t be late or you’ll be playing with yourself… See ya on the course!

Russ and I are partnering up for Rockburn, and Fred and Wayne T are joining forces as well. Rumor has it there may even be a Gerg/JOtt sighting! Wish us luck.

Due to the hastening daylight of late, Sunday tags will tee off at promptly 1:15p, and we will try to keep it to threesomes. If you’re en route but running behind, let me know.

I may be placing a disc order in the immediate future. Let me know if you want something specific. We may also be doing another run of dry-fit embroidered shirts. If you’d be interested, let me know; having a rough idea how many will make it easier come decision time. Plus, the more we order the cheaper they are for you.

See ya on the course!

Sorry for the late write up, I’m still sulking. We had a good crowd show for tags on Sunday, and all were treated to pleasant weather.

Late write up. I think I may have finally recovered from Hawk Hollow. Such an amazing course; most definitely in my personal top five. Imagine Whispering Falls all long, but longer, and with elevation changes and O.B. on every hole. Mind numbing golf. I can’t wait to go back. Matt got some plastic in Intermediate, Fred and I had fun.

Sunday tags saw the rare sighting of Number One. And here I thought he had already gone in to hibernation… Will there be another sighting of this elusive creature? Only time will tell… Scores, as transcribed by Nick. Thanks Nick!

On Saturday a few of us trekked to Codorus to compete in the Autumn Open. What started as a drizzly morning ended up as a windblown afternoon. Those of you that have played at Codorus know how that wind can whip around off Lake Marburg. Jay. and crew put on a great tourney, as usual. We all even came home with some plastic!
Thanks to Matt for driving. Thanks to Russ for forgetting his shoes and towels, I know it aided in his demise. And a big thanks to Tim for joining us and carrying my bag for me. It was pretty nice having fresh feeling shoulders at the end of the day.

6 10 2009

A small group gathered for what turned out to be a beautiful day to be in the woods throwing plastic at metal. A couple solid rounds were put together. Yet another personal best, and a see-saw battle for the lead.

I’d like to put Thom in the spotlight a little bit here. Thom started showing up for tags a little over 4 months ago. I remember his first round, because I thought he’d die. It was over 100 degrees out, and not being familiar with the course Thom hadn’t brought any water for during the round. But he stuck it out, played the entire round, and turned in a score of 120. I gave him a few pointers, advised him to bring water and figured we’d never see him again. Was I ever surprised to not only see Thom back next week, but he bought a tag! And he continued coming every week, and continued dropping his score. Now, some 4 months or so later, he turns in his personal best, and the next two weeks he scores even better. It’s encouraging to me to see players joining the group and coming back and improving their score rather than being discouraged and frustrated. Thom is the perfect example that you don’t have to throw 400ft to play Whispering Falls, you just have to be determined to finish.

Boger had me by two strokes at the turn. We both bogey 10, par 11 and drop in par 12. My drive on 13 makes the turn and ends up pin high, 50ft right. Thom says “I’m pretty happy with a drive at the crest of the hill.” Boger hits F(irst) A(vailable) T(ree) and kicks left in to no man’s land. Thumber gets caught up, escape layup and drop in 4 to my 3.
My drive on 14 misses the alley short, but I have a small window for a flippy forehand approach, lands 12ft away for a 3. Boger lands almost perfect in line with the sneaky alley, but his floaty approach gets caught in the weeds. His birdie putt looks like an instant replay from last week, line drive right in to the side of the cage. Drop in 4.
On 15 I hit my small gap, but catch a tree further down. Easy layup for 3. Boger hits FAT again and kicks right. He has a line for a high forehand appraoch but manages to get caught up by the smallest twig on the fairway. Smart layup to insure a drop in 4. Going in to 16 now I am leading by 1. My plan is to play it safe, short drive in to the open. My execution is another story and I end up left and throwing a spike hyzer to get back to the fairway. Approach and putt for my 4. Boger has a so so drive right around the gas pipe, his spike approach however is spot on. Drop in 3. Tied again. Boger drives first on 17, pulls it hard right and misses the second mando. From the drop he makes it safely across. His thumber approach drifted too far left and he’s left with a 50footer for 5. Comeback for 6. My drive hits the foliage at the left of the OB and somehow manages to squeak through and land safe. My approach hits the pines on the right side, leaving me 80ft out. Approach and putt for a drop in 4. I’m leading by 2 going in to 18. Boger hulks his driving in an ace effort but the headwind has other ides. Wide right, nice approach, drop in 3. My drive is knocked down short and left, straight up and down for drop in 3 as well.

Corey had a solid back 9, with a few shaved strokes on the front he would have been in the hunt.

Next week, same place same time. I’ve said it a few times, but let me spell it out. As long as there are two tag members present, you can have a tag match anytime you want. Play your round, exchange tags, and send me the scores. I will then add the round to our database for tracking. If you can’t make it on Sunday but want to play on Saturday taht’s great. Post up what time you want to play and make it happen. I am unable to make it out to play anytime other than Sunday afternoons. I’ll be there at 1:30 every week.

Codorus Autumn Open, PDGA C-tier, October 10th. Matt, Russ and I are going. It’ll be a good time, and is a great tourney to attend. If you need any info, let me know.

See ya on the course!
